The Faketec ("ProMicro nRF52 / faketec") is an open-source DIY project and a low-cost alternative to the Heltec V3 for building a Meshtastic/MeshCore node. The device combines a ProMicro nRF52840 baseboard (Nordic nRF52840, ARM Cortex-M4F @ 64 MHz, 256 KB RAM, 1 MB flash, Bluetooth) with a LoRa module (typically the Heltec HT-RA62 with Semtech SX1262, 868 MHz) on a Faketec carrier board. It supports an external antenna (SMA pigtail), optionally an SSD1306 OLED via I2C, and GPS via MOSFET circuits. Assembly requires SMD soldering; the total cost is approximately $11. This is a DIY project with no ready-made enclosure and no official support.
